We help Copenhagen Atomics turn vision into reality
We are proud of our collaboration with Copenhagen Atomics. Copenhagen Atomics is a high-tech company working purposefully to make thorium-based nuclear power a central energy source in the future.
Copenhagen Atomics’ vision is to mass-produce molten salt reactors that can fit in a 40-foot container.
Nuclear power and radioactive materials naturally entail stringent regulatory requirements—especially when it comes to safety and radiation protection.
The challenge
The statutory safety assessment at Copenhagen Atomics places significant demands on everything from radiation dose calculations to laboratory design and documentation of work procedures. The legislation is complex, and therefore requires specialised knowledge and experience to translate it into practice.
“It was far more challenging than we had expected. Interpreting and implementing the Radiation Protection Act is a discipline in its own right.”
– Thomas Steenberg, Co-founder

The solution
To ensure progress and maintain oversight, Copenhagen Atomics chose to collaborate with Dansk Strålebeskyttelse. Together, we work continuously on:
- A structured radiation protection strategy and training of an internal radiation protection team.
- Translating legal requirements into concrete actions and decisions.
- Calculations and methods for monitoring employees’ radiation doses.
- Advice and professional sparring on laboratory and facility layout and technical solutions.
“It is a challenge to maintain an overview of the many requirements, but with help from Dansk Strålebeskyttelse it is easier to keep track of the many elements. This saves us a lot of time and, at the same time, makes us feel confident that we comply with the applicable rules.”
– Thomas Steenberg, Co-founder
Are you also in the process of a safety assessment?
And do you not know where to start? Let us have a conversation. Whether you run a larger or smaller company, we will help you move forward safely. So you do not have to immerse yourself in legal provisions and technical calculations.
What Copenhagen Atomics says about the collaboration
We are still in progress, and the work continues to evolve in line with the project’s complexity. For Copenhagen Atomics, it adds significant value that the advisory support comes from outside—both professionally and personally.
“The collaboration with Brian has been very good. He is attentive, personable, and flexible—and, of course, professionally competent. It means a great deal to us to work with an external expert, as it provides new perspectives and helps us make well-informed decisions along the way.”
– Thomas Steenberg, Co-founder
